Karen has been MIA!!!

I have officially fired Karen from the blogging world. I have not been keeping a very good eye on her because she hasn't sent a new blog since JANUARY!!! So I told her she no longer can blog. I don't think she was very upset. It takes her a long time to type. So I am going to try to do a better job than she has done in the past. Our kids were suppose to go the the pumpkin patch today on their field trip but it obviously was canceled due to the rain. So I got to stay at work today and unload the new merchandise. I opened up 7 boxes from DCWV. Also all the new K&Company stuff came in. We are going to price it tomorrow and have it out. Great new albums, papers, embellishments and cute little organizing bags. Don't you just love to organize? We also got in the deep cut blades for the Cricut Machines. Our Love To Crop Hate To Shop crop is already half filled so if you are interested in coming you need to call ASAP. The crop will be like our Mega Crops it will be on Friday, November 28th the day after Thanksgiving. This will be our last Mega Crop for the year. We will be back on schedule in January for more of them.

Have you all signed up on www.cropscene.com website to get entered to win free stuff? This is a customer appreciation thing from EK Success, K& company, Inkadinkado and Martha Stewart. They are drawing a name everyday and giving away prizes. All you do is sign up on that site and you are entered. Also they are sending us Make N Takes for November 15th to do. You don't have to plan to come on November 15th to sign up on their website.

We are still receiving new products from the CHA show in July. Karen said we are expecting some more seasonal items in. I told her we need to be thinking about a end of year inventory sale. With the POS system we have to scan every item in the computer to make sure we have the correct count. YIKES!!! SCARY!!! So I would like to be low on our inventory so we don't have to be here for a week like we did last January when we got the POS machine in the first place. What a nightmare that was. So Karen is thinking about it not sure what she has planned. Like usual it will be last minute but worth the wait.

We still have room in our Christmas in October workshop. Great projects this year. Even my favorite the Bazzil In Stitch's sewing. I just love to sew on my pages and use all the great flower templates and borders they have. I feel like I can really sew!!! Not that I am gonna start making clothes or anything. It is on Saturday, October 18th 5:00-9:00p.m. We will have lite snacks, drinks, door prizes and a lot of fun. All materials are supplied for 13-15 different projects. We are even gonna do the one that Karen needed all the Sonic cup holders for. The cost is $30.00 all you need to bring is your workshop kit to complete the projects.

Well enough blogging for me today. This has taken me about 6 minutes to do I am sure Karen would have been here for about 1 hour. She should have paid more attention during typing class. And I should have paid more attention in English, sorry Mrs. Fontaine!!!

Where have I been???

I just discovered if you hit enter after the title instead of tabbing to the writing space it publishes what you typed. Oops. Sam and I are waiting for the bus. I am trying to get and updated blog for you all. So much for regularity. Our new POS system is up and running. We are still tweaking all that it can do. So far it looks to be a great asset to DL. Connie has our new Valentine's displays out. You should be thinking about your kids and your Valentines. Here is just a little something I do for my boys (includes Travis). I make up a scavenger hunt in a rhyme type poem. At each clue I hide a small prize ie. juice box, crayons, rummage sale finds. The poem always starts out roses are red violets are blue here is a Valentines day hunt for you.
So just in case you don't have enough going on you can work on this for your crew.

Mom and I are heading out next week to Ohio to order craft supplies for the store. We will be bringing in things like poster board, beads, seasonal supplies and much more. This is do to the large number of requests that we get from people looking for things with out having to go out of town. Let us know if there is something you are interested in see here at DL.

The January Mega crop is filled up. However we are offering one in both February and March. These 12 hour crops are a great way to jump start your year by getting a lot of work done. So make sure you call or stop by to sign up.

Gotta go the dishes and laundry are taunting me again. Have a great week. Karen

GET IN HERE NOW FOR CHEAP STUFF

It's your chance. Mary just put out new clearance signs. All clearance items (marked with the yellow/orange tags) are an extra 50% off the clearance price. The clearance paper is now 5 sheets for $1.00. After talking to our people doing the new POS that we have to input even clearance items. I was really thinking we wouldn't. So it has to go. Might I make a few suggestions. There are 20 or so left of the Tech. Tues. acrylic stamps. I have myself 12 different ones and love them. These are just leaving due to new designs coming out. There is also tons of misc. stickers in the back clearance area. (did you know we have 2) All of these would make a great scrapbooking gift. You could give someone 100.00 value for next to nothing.

Even with inventory coming up we are still getting in new product. K& Co new Valentines line is in but not quite out yet. EK Success new products are in that I talked about last time. Cricut Vinyl and markers are in. Time to decorate the tree with the kids. I pray for patience and a mind that remembers the joy of childhood. I have a meatloaf in the oven. I kind of cooked it like a roast and put potatoes and carrots around it. I hope it doesn't make too much grease. See you soon. Karen

Have you missed me?????

OK so I have been slacking on the blog thing. Just keep in mind all you computer lovin' people, I don't like computers, typing or surfing the web. So for some it is cleaning the bathroom, dusting, or paying the bills, for me it is computing. Not that I love those other jobs. However, I do love talking to people about scrapbooking and honestly I just love talking to people. Even though I have not been blogging I have been quite busy. At DL we are still getting in new product ordered in July. That is how far behind some of these companies are. I also just yesterday ordered new product from Ek Sucess that will be coming in in December and January. They have some great products coming out including to new Disney border punches, new Cars stickers(are they making a Cars 2 movie?) , they are also updating many of their Jolee's and Sticko stickers. They are updating colors, fabrics and embellishments. They also have some new tape runners that are at a great price.

Bazzill just shipped their new stitched paper line. These are templates that allow to to effortlessly sew on your pages. They samples they made were fabulous. Julie is working her magic on some pages for the store. If you love the new samples of scrapbook pages, cards and paper crafting projects make sure you give a "great job" to Julie, Connie, and Toni. They do a fabulous job of creating samples for the store. Use these ideas to inspire you to try new techniques or what I do just copy and have one less thing to think up.

Sandylion: new rodeo and western line, sports: gymnastics, dance, football, and basketball. A really nice cruise line. A really cute black red and white line by Kelli P.

Creative Imaginations: All you John Deere crazies New brads, epoxies, and rub-ons.

We have also had a lot of requests for Styrofoam balls so we have now in stock 1/2 inch up to 6 inches. This leads me to my next topic of discussion. We are constantly getting people asking for craft supplies. We have requests for everyday items like wiggle eyes and doll rods to the not so general such as leather crafting and air brush supplies. After the first of the year we are going to be adding a craft supply department. We would like feedback on what types of supplies you have bought or wanted in the last year. We obviously are not going to be able to carry every product out there but we really want to provide supplies that are need through out the year and at holidays so that you are not forced to drive out of town at over $3.oo a gallon. So do drop us a note or use the good ole phone and give us your ideas for the craft supplies and any thing else that is on your mind.

Do get in here and check out the sales we have going on. The classroom is full as well as the last isle of scrapbooking before you get to the crafts. There is also clearance items in with there theme or product line. We are offering teared discounts off of the sale price the more clearance you buy the cheaper it gets. You can get up to 50 % off SALE prices this would be up to 90% off many regular priced items. I just grabbed some great things to make a scrapbooking basket for Noah, my 8 yr. old. He wanted a tote for his own supplies. I think its a great idea then maybe he will stay out of mine. We have 3 paper sticker binders in the clearance left they are great for kids or adults. you can get a ton of stuff in these plus add more pages (which are also on sale) there are also tool totes for not a lot of money that are great too. Time to go my typing is getting sloppy. Hope to see you all soon. karen

Running out of headline ideas besides New Product

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall weather. I love the fact that in Illinois we get such a variety of weather. It so nice to have the mix to keep us guessing. Remind me that I said this during the freezing cold this winter.
Coming up at DL. Next Saturday we are offering our 2nd Cricut Class and Crop. There are 2 classes on Sat. one for 6" machine in the a.m. and one for the 12" machine in the p.m. This is a free class if you bought your machine here at DL. If you didn't get your machine here you can still take the class for $25.oo. Even if you have to pay the 25 it is a great value. One of the biggest things we here from people about the Cricut is that they use it but they are not for sure all the things it does or why is does or doesn't do something they want. Even if you feel pretty confident in what you are doing you will gain a ton of ideas and info in this class. Sat nite will will be offering our 2nd Cricut Crop. This crop is for Cricut owners only. Similar to our Friday nite crops in that you get snacks, chocolate, classroom tools, door prizes and a great space to get tons of work done. The differences are you also get more space to work, power to keep your Cricut at your table, 20% of this months cartridge "Stamped" plus samples, ideas, and handouts using this cartridge, door prizes include coupons for cricut products, and the best part of the night is you can use any of the cricut cartridges. This alone is over a $1,000 value and we just did get in 4 new ones. You must sign up for the crop and classes ahead of time.

If you do not own a Cricut yet you need to. Those of you who know me know I'll be the first one to say you don't need to own even half of the tools for scrapbooking, card making and paper crafting. However, this machine really does shine out. I can't even begin to type all they ways I have used this machine. So stop by sometime and I can give you a run down. Christmas is coming and from what I've heard most of you deserve a Little something extra.

Onto what we got in yesterday. We have had a lot of requests for things to do with feeding the ducks. So we had a laser die cut made. It is very cute and should be in with the farm animal area. Christmas is still coming in. We got in 3 winter and Christmas lines in from Creative Imaginations. All very cute with epoxy stickers, chipboard and several coordinating papers. If you haven't started your Christmas cards the sooner the better the selection.

Provo Craft just released a great line of chipboard shapes at a great price. Julie already has them up in the first aisle of the store. They also released some great chipboard shaped boxes that would be great to decorate for gifts.

You should also be coming in on a weekly basis to check out all of our sales. With inventory fast approaching we must get rid of a lot of last years products. There is sale stuff everywhere and more being added all the time. The classroom has a ton of paper 3 for 1.00, the last scrapbooking aisle has 18 feet of marked down stickers and embellishments. In each theme area also has markdowns in it of discontinued products. To top that all off Monday starts our 25% off Fall and Halloween aisle and the Martha Fall and Halloween. Yippee. This is all I know for the week. Fall blessings to you and your family. Karen

new K & Co, Karen Foster

Funny how a change in routine can offset your whole plan. No school on Friday so no blog. We spent the day running errands and Sam's first trip to the dentist. All went great and of course I have the photos to prove it. Love this cooler fall weather. The perfect weather to go to the pumpkin patch. We are headed to The Great Pumpkin Patch in Arthur Il after school.

So here is the run down on the new products in yesterday.

Karen Foster: same great style we all love but new and refreshed themes. They include: Ballet, Mother and Father, Patriotic, Christmas, Track and Field, Basketball, Potty Training, Shaving and Hair Salon, Game Night (cards, ping pong, bingo, dice, video, and more), In Memory, and Baptism

K & Co. : Oh my absolutely love the new line called Wild Saffron. This line is great. It has a shabby look but yet brighter colors, a great mix of floral and print. I could see this line being used for many different looks. Rhonda should get it out today and it will be on the first end cap by the shopping carts. We also got in the new Ancestry.com line by K & Co. We will be adding this to our already existing heritage aisle. Classic K the Margo line is also a new shabby line with a bit more pastels and floral. All you girlie moms will be excited. One thing I was reminded of when marking all of the new K & Co is they sure do have great prices. Their glitter paper is still just $1.oo a sheet. Many of the companies have gone to $2.00 or $2.50 a sheet. Their embossed and 3-D stickers are also so well priced $3.99 and you get a big sheet with a lot of detail.

K & Co. also released 3 limited value packs. These would make great gifts. 1) is a paper value pack for 29.99 you get 200 K & Co papers that have not be released before it also comes in a 12 x 12 keepsake box. 2) is a 12 x12 file box filled with the traditional K & Co styled products you get 200 papers, 98 die cuts plus the great heavy duty file box with 6 dividers. 3) is a embellishment value box for $ 39.99 this box contains over 3,500 pieces. These are all non reorderable so if you want one better get it while you can.

We are still expecting new products from the show. I'll keep you updated. I did get a notice that the new Martha Christmas is coming in. See you all soon and have a great weekend. Karen
